Institutional Research and Assessment Coordination

In order to maximize the University’s research and assessment efforts, all University research and assessment* projects that collect student, alumni, faculty, and/or staff feedback will be coordinated through the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.

The purpose of this policy is to optimize

  • the quality of research conducted;
  • the participation of our constituents in data collection efforts; and
  • the use of resources by combining, when appropriate, the research needs of individual units and the institution.

This policy does not replace the need for Institutional Review Board approval to conduct certain research and assessment projects.

* This does not include student ratings or course embedded assessments.

Use the navigational links on the left side of the screen to view the following:

  • The procedure link outlines the steps involved in submitting an institutional research or assessment request to OIRA.
  • The Institutional Research and Assessment Coordination Form allows the requesting individual to describe the details of a proposed assessment study or institutional research effort.
  • The University Six-Year Assessment Plan and the Two-Year Data Collection Schedule identify the current institutional research and assessment efforts of the University. The Six-Year Plan provides a long-term perspective regarding the University’s involvement in national research studies, external and internal reporting, accreditation, sponsored programs, internal research, assessment, and sponsored research. The Two-Year Schedule details these efforts over the next few semesters.
